Consumer electronics devices with RCA connector jacks can be used with BNC-only commercial video equipment by inserting an adapter. BNC connectors were commonly used on 10base2 thin Ethernet network cables and network cards. BNC connections can also be found in recording studios. Digital recording equipment uses the connection for synchronization of various components via the transmission of word clock timing signals. Typically the male connector is fitted to a cable, and the female to a panel on equipment. Cable connectors are often designed to be fitted by crimping using a special power or manual tool.
By George Winton Figure 1 An automated system for processing flexible coax cable pulls the coax off the spool, straightens it, and then cuts it to a programmed length. Coaxial cable is commonly used to convey high-frequency signals in microwave communications systems. Uses include common commercial applications such as cell phone towers and specialized military purposes such as ship-to-ship satellite communications systems. Two common types of coaxial cable are semirigid and flexible. Semirigid cable, which usually comes in straight sections, doesn't require any special handling or preparation before cutting. Flexible cable is supplied on a spool.
Ordering Info The CPT Series of cable stripping tools strip the jacket and cut back the braid and dielectric to the proper dimensions on braided and braid-replacement drop cables, including standard single through quad shielded RG-6, , -7, and cables. An Ergonomic, Efficient Design: The CPT body is comfortable to hold and easy to operate with either hand. Because jacket, braid, and dielectric are cut with one simple motion, cables can be prepared quickly and easily. Made of the highest quality steel, CPT blades ensure optimum performance over a long life.
